How an engagement runs
Five stages, each with a defined deliverable, a defined price and a defined end. You can stop after any of them.
Tax check — free, 3 minutes online
Eight questions about your structure, turnover, ownership and cross-border exposure. You submit your contact details at the end and we call you within one working day for a 30-minute conversation. There is no charge and no obligation attached to this stage. Around a third of the people who complete it are told plainly that they do not need us yet.
You receive: a verbal indication of where the largest reliefs are likely to sit.
Diagnostic review — 10 to 14 working days
You send three years of annual accounts, the last three tax returns, your shareholder register and your current ownership chart. We read all of it. Where the picture is incomplete we ask specific questions rather than generic ones. The review is quoted as a fixed fee before it begins, from NOK 14 500 excluding MVA.
You receive: a written report listing every identified relief, quantified in kroner, with its legal basis and risk rating.
Decision meeting — 90 minutes
We go through the report together, in our office or yours, with your accountant present if you wish. You decide which measures to implement, which to defer and which to decline. Anything you decline is recorded as declined, so the file is complete either way.
You receive: an implementation schedule with owners and statutory deadlines against each measure.
Implementation — timed to the tax year
We prepare board resolutions, share transfer documents, merger and demerger papers, registration filings and any advance ruling application that the position warrants. Your accountant books it; we check the entries before the return is filed. Structural work is normally sequenced so it completes before 31 December.
You receive: executed documents, filed registrations and a position memo for each measure taken.
Annual governance — ongoing
Tax law changes every autumn with the national budget, and your business changes faster than that. Retainer clients receive a dated deadline calendar each January, a review meeting each spring before the corporate return, and unlimited short questions by telephone and e-mail throughout the year. First Skatteetaten enquiry each year is handled at no additional cost.
You receive: a live tax file that stays correct as the business moves.
The documents that make a review fast
Nothing here is unusual, and your accountant will have most of it ready. Sending it in one batch typically shortens the diagnostic review by four to five working days.
- Annual accounts for the last three financial years
- Tax returns and assessment notices for the same period
- Current shareholder register and group ownership chart
- Loan agreements, including any shareholder loans
- Property register extracts, where property is held
- Any correspondence with Skatteetaten from the last five years
Everything is transferred through an encrypted portal. We are bound by professional confidentiality and process personal data as described in our privacy policy.
What we guarantee in writing
Fixed price
The quotation is binding. If scope grows, we requote and you approve it before any further work.
Named adviser
One lead adviser and one reviewer, both named in the engagement letter, for the duration.
We defend our positions
If Skatteetaten questions a measure we recommended, we handle the correspondence at our own cost.
Stage one costs nothing
Eight questions online, then a conversation. If there is nothing to gain, we will say so.
